Homeowners opened their doors to the public when the Balboa Island Museum and Historical Society Home Tour showcased eight homes Saturday. The homes were built between 1913 and 1953. Some have been completely gutted and remodeled, while others remain in their original form.
Walking around Balboa Island feels like a tour of the good life, American preppy style. In true American fashion, parking is not pleasant, not surprising on a tiny island packed with tourists and satellite citizens. But once my friend and I get out of the car, we are utterly charmed by the seaside scene we see.

The Balboa Island Museum and Historical Society held it's Annual Volunteer Social at the home of Shirley Pepys and hosted by Shirley, Museum President Ed Trainor and the BIMHS Board. All that attended were treated to hors d'oeuvres, refreshments and volunteer recognitions. A fun time was had by all.

Once again the Museum courtyard was filled to capacity as members gathered for the Speaker Series event featuring brothers Hal Jr. and Mike Smith. The Smith family has a long and fascinating history on Balboa Island going back three generations, and all in attendance were captivated from the moment the discussion began.
