Dave Kunst met Jenni Samuel while on a trip walking around the world on behalf of UNICEF from 1970-74. He went through 21 pairs of shoes. It took 4 years, 3 months, and 16 days to accomplish this feat. The three Kunst brothers started in Minnesota went to New York, Portugal, Spain, France, Bulgaria, Italy... and onward! They were denied permission to go to China and then went to Australia. This is where Dave met the love of his life—Jenni! She was part of this journey. He then returned to Newport Beach for western journey back to Minnesota, where he finished. Along the way, he met Princess Grace of Monaco and Thor Heyerdahl who wrote Kon-Tiki. John, his brother, and himself were ambushed by bandits in Afghanistan. Dave was shot and wounded, but finished the journey on behalf of his brother who died from this ambush in his name. Dave was the only brother to have completed this journey. There was an article of this story in Time! HBO is working a movie and have already bought the rights for this.
